Oil announces thwarting the smuggling of 61 tankers carrying oxidized asphalt and oil waste

The Ministry of Oil announced today, Saturday, the thwarting of the smuggling of 61 tankers carrying oxidized asphalt and oil waste in Basra.

The Director General of the Petroleum Products Distribution Company, Hussein Talib, said in a statement, received by the (INA), that “the inspection authority at the Petroleum Products Distribution Company, in cooperation with the supporting security authorities, thwarted the smuggling operation of 61 tankers carrying oxidized asphalt, white clay, and waste.” Petroleum Corporation in Basra Governorate,” indicating that “the operation was based on information about some individuals attempting to smuggle oxidized asphalt and some petroleum products.”
A student added, “A working team was formed from the National Security Service, the Naval Forces Command, and the Authority’s branch in Basra Governorate,” where one of the dens (a garage) in the Khor Al-Zubair area was raided, and a number of tankers loaded with products prepared for smuggling were controlled, which are As follows: 29 tanks loaded with oxidized asphalt, 29 tanks loaded with oil waste, 2 tanks loaded with white Safwa material, and 1 tank loaded with Safwa waste.”
He continued, “63 defendants were arrested, according to a judicial warrant, and legal measures were taken against them.”
