The Land Transport Authority (LTA) booked 187 vehicles over three days in an enforcement operation targeting illegal parking in the central area.

Illegal Parking Enforcement in Central Area

The operation, conducted in November, focused on offenses including parking on double yellow lines, opposite continuous white lines, on double white lines, and in no-stopping zones, the LTA said in a Facebook post on Thursday (Dec 11).

According to the LTA, parking is defined as stopping a vehicle for any reason other than the immediate pick-up or drop-off of passengers, goods, or luggage. A vehicle is considered parked, even with the driver present or the engine running.

“Such behaviours cause obstruction to traffic and pose safety risks,” the LTA stated. The authority urged motorists to follow parking regulations to ensure road safety for all users.

Offenders face penalties and/or demerit points. First-time offenders may be fined up to $300, while repeat offenders will face higher penalties.
