Agencies – INA Four Palestinians were killed yesterday, Friday, after Israeli forces opened fire on protesters on the Gaza Strip border, and 232 others were injured. Reuters quoted health officials in Gaza as saying, “Israeli forces opened fire on protesters near the Gaza Strip border, killing four and wounding 232 in the neighborhood on Friday.” An Israeli army statement said that it “responded with air strikes on three sites belonging to the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), which runs the Strip.” He added, “About 16,000 Palestinians gathered on the borders of the Gaza Strip and were throwing stones, hand grenades, and incendiary bombs at the forces. The forces responded with ‘means to disperse rioters’ and live bullets when necessary.” Later, sirens sounded in Israeli towns and residential communities around the Gaza Strip to warn of rocket launches from the Strip. The Israeli army said that the Iron Dome missile defense system intercepted several of the approximately 12 missiles. Residents of the Strip later reported that Israel carried out more air strikes. According to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, 212 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli gunfire since the start of the weekly protests on March 30. One Israeli soldier was killed by a Palestinian sniper in the same period.
