President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led the groundbreaking ceremony for the first agricultural machinery complex in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija, on Monday, a P5.9 billion project aimed at boosting the country’s agricultural sector.
First Agri-Machinery Complex
The complex is expected to manufacture and assemble a range of farm machinery, including tractors, harvesters, and irrigation equipment, reducing the Philippines’ reliance on imports. Marcos emphasized that agriculture remains the “soul” of the Philippine economy and vital to national food security.
The project will be implemented by Universal Leaf Philippines Vegetable Inc. and is expected to generate numerous jobs in the region. The facility aims to provide farmers with access to affordable and modern agricultural technology.
During the event, Marcos also distributed farm inputs and equipment to farmers in Central Luzon, further supporting their livelihoods. The Presidential Communications Office reported the distribution included various resources to aid agricultural production.
Marcos highlighted the importance of modernizing the agricultural sector to increase productivity and improve the incomes of Filipino farmers. He stated that the government is committed to investing in agriculture and providing farmers with the necessary support to thrive.
