The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies fell one seat short of a majority in the Thiruvananthapuram local body elections, according to results released Tuesday. R. Sreelekha of the BJP won in the city, while S.P. Deepak, K. Sreekumar, and Vanchiyoor Babu also secured victories.

R. Sreelekha’s win for the BJP has drawn attention, particularly due to a pre-poll survey she shared that sparked controversy. The survey results were released before the official election outcome.
S.P. Deepak, K. Sreekumar, and Vanchiyoor Babu were also declared winners in the local body polls. Their victories are being described as a relief for the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM), with the winners considered “mayoral candidates.”
Actor Poojappura Radhakrishnan was defeated in the election. Sabarinathan also emerged victorious.
