Delhi is experiencing a severe cold wave, with temperatures dropping to 2.9°C, marking the coldest January morning in three years. Parts of the city are also blanketed in dense fog, impacting visibility and daily life.

Delhi Gripped by Intense Cold Wave

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for several parts of northern India as the cold wave intensifies. Rain is also forecast in southern regions of the country.

According to reports, the minimum temperature in Delhi reached 2.9°C on Monday, while the maximum temperature is expected to remain around 19°C. The Air Quality Index (AQI) remains in the poor category.

The cold wave is not limited to northern India, with uncharacteristic cold being reported in eastern, central, and southern parts of the country. There is a possibility of a rare extreme cold blast affecting the north.

Visibility has been significantly reduced due to the dense fog, disrupting traffic and transportation. Authorities are advising people to take precautions and avoid unnecessary travel.
