Ian Huntley, who murdered Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in 2002, suffered serious injuries in an assault while imprisoned at HMP Frankland in County Durham, UK, on Thursday morning.
Ian Huntley Assaulted in Prison
Durham Constabulary reported that a prisoner was assaulted at the prison and subsequently transported to a hospital for treatment. A police investigation into the circumstances of the incident is underway, with detectives working alongside prison staff.
The Prison Service confirmed a prisoner is receiving treatment following the incident but stated it would be inappropriate to comment further while the police investigate.
According to The Sun, Huntley was attacked with a metal pole, and a source indicated his condition is “touch and go.”
Huntley is currently serving a life sentence for the murders of 10-year-olds Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman. The girls were killed after leaving a family barbecue to buy sweets in Soham, Cambridgeshire, on August 4, 2002, and their bodies were later found in a ditch.
