A $4.5 million Lotto Powerball ticket purchased in Auckland remains unclaimed more than two weeks after the draw took place on February 18, prompting Lotto NZ to urge the winner to come forward.
Unclaimed Millions in Auckland
The winning ticket was sold at Glen Innes Dairy and Lotto Outlet. Lotto NZ stated the winner would be one of 12 lottery millionaires created this year, and the first from the Auckland region.
“We usually hear from our Powerball winners within a few days – it’s rare they go this long before claiming,” said Lotto NZ head of corporate communications Will Hine. “It’s a big prize, and we want the winner to have their money as soon as possible.”
Lotto NZ believes the winner may be processing the news privately or may not yet be aware they hold the winning ticket. “It’s a lot to take in, so the winner may be quietly processing the news before they get in touch,” Hine said. “But there’s every chance they haven’t checked their ticket yet and are happily going about their day, completely unaware they’re a multi‑millionaire.”
Lotto NZ is encouraging anyone who purchased a ticket from Glen Innes Dairy and Lotto Outlet to check their numbers.
In addition to the Auckland prize, Lotto NZ is also seeking winners for two other unclaimed prizes: a $500,000 prize from a November 1, 2025 draw purchased in Westport from New World Westport, and a $250,000 prize from the February 4 draw purchased in Thames from Paper Plus Thames.
1News has previously reported on Lotto NZ’s process for tracking down unclaimed prizes.
