Three teenagers have been charged following an alleged bullying attack on a 13-year-old girl in Sydney, an incident that was recorded on mobile phones and shared online.

Bullying Ordeal at Kingsgrove North High

The 13-year-old student at Kingsgrove North High School was allegedly subjected to a five-hour ordeal by a group of female students in the school yard and boys’ toilets.

Multiple videos captured the alleged prolonged attack where the girl was punched, dragged by the hair, made to bark like a dog, and forced into a rubbish bin.

The alleged victim told 9News she thought she was going to die, stating, “I thought it was going to be like my last day ever on earth.”

Court Appearances and Charges

In court, a 13-year-old pleaded not guilty, while a 14-year-old requested her case be dealt with under the Mental Health Act. A 15-year-old also indicated she will defend the charges.

Each of the teenagers was warned they could face harsher punishment if they breach an Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) protecting their classmate and the alleged victim.

School Response and Investigation

The mother of the injured teen and other students have criticized the school’s handling of the incident, claiming staff were aware of prior bullying incidents involving the same group but failed to act.

Education Minister Prue Car has demanded a review of the incident, stating, “I look forward to hearing what has happened so that we can learn from anything that has happened there.”

The three alleged bullies have been suspended, and expulsion remains a possibility.
