Iran Vows No Uranium Exports: Parliamentary Committee Warns

Donald Trump has asserted that the United States will secure Iran’s enriched uranium, despite Iranian officials explicitly rejecting the removal of the material from the country.

  • Trump claims the U.S. and Iran will collaborate to transfer uranium to the United States.
  • Iran’s Parliamentary National Security Committee has rejected the option of transferring enriched uranium abroad.
  • WTI oil prices saw one of the largest one-day declines, finishing down 11.45% at $83.85.

Conflicting Claims over Iran’s Enriched Uranium

Trump stated that U.S. personnel, working alongside the Iranians, will collaborate to retrieve the uranium and transport it to the United States.

However, a spokesperson for Iran’s Parliamentary National Security Committee stated that the option of transferring enriched uranium abroad is rejected, adding that social media statements from the U.S. differ from reality.

Oil Market Volatility and Production Concerns

The energy market reacted sharply, with WTI oil finishing down $10.84 at $83.85, representing an 11.45% decline. This marks one of the largest one-day drops in the commodity’s history.

Industry concerns remain centered on the time required to restart oil production in fields damaged during the war. There are also ongoing questions regarding the safety of ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, although approximately 20 tankers are currently reported to be in transit.

While the market remains jittery, current indications suggest that talks are scheduled to take place this Monday in Pakistan.
