A 17-year-old has been charged with murder following the stabbing of a man in Wainuiomata earlier this month, marking a significant escalation in the Wainuiomata murder charge investigation.
Police were called to Wainuiomata Rd on the morning of April 2 after Daniel Te Mataku was found unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after arriving.
Update on Wainuiomata Murder Charge
Detective Inspector Nick Pritchard announced this morning that police have filed a murder charge against the 17-year-old. The suspect was originally charged with assault with a weapon.
The youth is scheduled to appear in the Hutt Valley Youth Court today.
