Students have until 14 August 2026 to apply for the Transforming Education Through Scholarships (TEST) for Africa programme in Uganda. Separately, the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation has opened its 2027 scholarship cycle for international master’s and doctoral students to conduct research at German higher education institutions.
TEST for Africa Scholarship Application Requirements
The TEST for Africa scholarship programme is currently accepting applications for the 2026/27 academic year to support students facing financial barriers to higher education in Uganda. The programme is designed to assist academically capable students, helping beneficiaries remain enrolled in their studies while reducing the financial burden associated with tertiary education. Prospective applicants must download the official application form and detailed eligibility guidelines directly from the TEST for Africa website. The organization has encouraged all prospective applicants to carefully review the guidance notes before completing their submissions.
The deadline for all scholarship applications is Friday, 14 August 2026. Successful candidates will be notified by email and through their educational institutions on or before Monday, 28 September 2026. The organization specified that due to the high number of applications received each year, it will not contact unsuccessful applicants individually. Students who do not receive communication by the notification date should consider their application unsuccessful but are encouraged to apply again during the next application cycle.
Current scholarship beneficiaries must note that funding is not automatically renewed. Those seeking to continue their support must submit a renewal application annually, demonstrating satisfactory academic progress while undergoing a fresh assessment of their financial need. Renewal applications follow the same submission process as new applications.
Fraud Prevention and Application Fees
The programme has issued a firm warning regarding scholarship fraud, emphasizing that the application process is completely free of charge. The organization stated: Scholarship application forms can be downloaded free of charge. No application or processing fees are required. TEST does not work with any individual or organisation that charges applicants for scholarships.
Applicants are advised that paying anyone to assist with completing application forms will result in immediate disqualification. This warning is intended to protect prospective students from fraudulent individuals or organizations claiming to offer assistance in exchange for payment.
Rosa Luxemburg Foundation 2027 Postgraduate Funding
For students targeting postgraduate research in Germany, the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation has opened its 2027 scholarship cycle. Founded in 1990 and named after political thinker and revolutionary Rosa Luxemburg, the foundation aims to support research, education, and academic projects that align with values of social justice, democracy, and critical scholarship. The prestigious scholarship is designed to support academically talented students who demonstrate strong social engagement and a commitment to the values of democratic socialism while removing financial barriers to higher education and research.

The programme provides significant monthly stipends to successful applicants. Master’s students are eligible for €1,350 per month, while doctoral candidates receive €1,450 per month. Beyond the stipend, the foundation offers additional financial support, including a mobility allowance, healthcare assistance, and opportunities to participate in academic and cultural activities across Germany. Scholars also gain access to research networks, educational programmes, and seminars focused on issues of social justice, democracy, and sustainable development.
Eligibility and Selection Criteria
The scholarship is open to both German and international students, though medical fields are excluded from the programme. To qualify, candidates must demonstrate an excellent academic record, proficiency in the German language at the B2 level, and active involvement in social, political, or community engagement aligned with the foundation’s values.
Applicants must be enrolled, or planning to enrol, in a master’s or doctoral programme at a state-recognised university in Germany. Doctoral candidates are specifically required to submit a well-developed research proposal. International researchers already studying outside Germany are also encouraged to apply if they intend to continue their academic work at a German institution. Applicants are expected to provide academic transcripts, degree certificates, a research plan, and a language proficiency certificate. The foundation accepts scholarship applications twice per year, and candidates are encouraged to begin preparing their documents well in advance to meet the relevant submission deadlines.
