By 9:00 a.m. Central European Summer Time, the price hit 90,60 dollars, a move that noted represented a rise from the previous Friday’s close. Simultaneously, U.S. light crude (WTI) saw an increase, reaching 84,50 dollars per barrel.

This price escalation is directly linked to the deteriorating security situation in the Middle East. The United States has conducted military strikes against Iranian targets for nine consecutive nights. In a reciprocal escalation, the Iranian military has launched its own attacks against Bahrain and Kuwait. These operations have centered on coastal surveillance stations, communication networks, and other military facilities, with the explicit U.S. objective of curbing Iran’s capacity to disrupt commercial shipping in the Hormuz Strait.

Supply Concerns and Inventory Levels

The volatility in the Strait of Hormuz—a primary artery for global petroleum transit—has already begun to throttle maritime traffic. Reports indicate that the volume of vessels navigating the strait remained notably low over the weekend. Financial analysts are warning that the current market pricing may still fail to account for the full scale of the supply risk.
