Huawei will unveil the MatePad Pro 2026 tablet at a launch event on August 5 at 14:30. The new flagship device focuses on a lightweight design and Pro-level performance, joining a broader product rollout that includes the Maextro flagship MPV and other all-scenario products.
Huawei is pushing the physical limits of the tablet form factor. The upcoming MatePad Pro 2026, arriving August 5, targets a profile that is both thinner and lighter than its predecessors, weighing approximately 439 grams with a thickness of only 4.70mm.
This launch follows a pattern of aggressive hardware iteration. Earlier this year, the company introduced the MatePad Pro Max, which was positioned as the world’s slimmest tablet. The 2026 model continues this trajectory, featuring a circular camera bump similar to the Pro Max and offering two color options: metallic pink and blue.

It measures 4.7mm, a significant reduction from the 5.5mm thickness of the previous generation 13-inch model.
Achieving this required a departure from the standard “sandwich” chassis. Huawei utilized an integrated all-metal unibody design and a laser-assisted component embedding process to integrate parts directly into the mainboard. To prevent the device from flexing under pressure, the company added load-bearing beams and steel reinforcements to the battery, mainboard, and camera, which improved bending resistance by 60 per cent.
The Pro Max is paired with a 13.2-inch 3K flexible OLED PaperMatte Display that lacks a notch. This panel reaches a peak brightness of 1600 nits, supports a 144 Hz refresh rate, and holds the TÜV Rheinland Full Care Display 5.0 Certification.
MatePad Air 2026: Portability and Pricing Discrepancies
For users prioritizing portability over raw screen size, the MatePad Air (2026) offers a 12-inch OLED display with a 2.5K resolution. Weighing 509g and measuring 5.3mm thick, it uses the Kirin T93C 7nm chip. While capable of standard productivity, some performance lags are evident during heavy 4K video editing in LumaFusion.
