Breaking Protection: How the Attack Unfolded in Avižieniai

The violent confrontation began at approximately 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, when a woman placed an emergency call to report that her former partner was forcing his way into her home on Kardelių Street in Avižieniai, near Vilnius. According to the initial call, the man was prohibited from approaching the family under a domestic violence protection order issued just one day prior.

The suspect shattered a glass window using a stone to gain entry to the residence. Initial emergency reports indicated that minor children were inside the house, but the caller stated that ambulance medics were not immediately required. However, the situation escalated rapidly before law enforcement arrived.

When police officers reached the property, they found the interior littered with broken glass. Officers had to force open the front door to access the victim. Inside, they discovered the 43-year-old woman covered in blood and bearing numerous stab wounds. Medical personnel carried her outside and attempted resuscitation, but she was soon pronounced dead at the scene.
