Galaxy S25 Beta Preparation Underway in India

Owners of the Galaxy S25 lineup appear to be next in line for Samsung’s major software testing phase. The manufacturer activated the dedicated beta program page in India for the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Industry trackers note that activating regional registration portals typically serves as one of the final administrative milestones before enrollment opens to the public. Until now, the One UI 9 testing track remained exclusive to the Galaxy S26 lineup, which has already received four test versions.

New sections appearing inside the Samsung Members community point directly to an impending expansion, even though Samsung has not yet officially announced the launch date. The appearance of these pages suggests that the Galaxy S25 models are next on the list.

Internal Testing Pushes Toward One UI 9 Beta 5 for Galaxy S26

While the previous generation prepares for its initial preview, Samsung continues backend refinement for its current-generation hardware. Internal test builds for One UI 9 Beta 5 for Galaxy S26 models appeared last week, and active testing has been underway for just a few days.

The software development timeline for the Galaxy S26 series began when Samsung launched the Beta Program for the series in May 2026. Since then, the company has released a total of four test versions. The first three beta versions were released at a rapid pace, every two weeks, in the first approximately 50 days of testing. The fourth beta was launched on July 14, 2026, with users waiting approximately four weeks for it. It was a large package of about 1.25 GB.

However, more than two weeks have passed since the launch of the fourth beta version. Given that internal testing of the fifth version started a few days ago, a release for registered testers is expected in the near future.

Timing projections for the upcoming fifth beta point to a narrow window in August 2026:

• Early August Scenario: According to available information from internal development, the update could possibly be released on August 3 or August 5, 2026.
• Mid-August Scenario: However, this early date comes right before the global launch of new foldables. If Samsung follows a longer, four-week testing cycle similar to Beta 4, Beta 5 could arrive in mid-August, possibly in the second week of August.

Releasing updates early in the month creates a tight commercial overlap. Global retail availability for new foldables—specifically the Galaxy Z Fold8, Z Fold8 Ultra, and Z Flip8—begins on August 7, 2026. Although the release of the live version of One UI 9 for the general public is approaching inexorably, the gradual tuning from the fifth beta clearly shows that Samsung does not want to leave anything to chance. For users of the Galaxy S26 series, it offers a great opportunity to test an even more refined system right before the official launch. It is a pity that it is available on such a limited number of markets.

Stable Releases and the Android 17 Feature Outlook

The broader software ecosystem is already shifting from testing to production. Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra have become the first phones with the stable version of One UI 9. As these are heading to stores, expansion to other eligible models feels like a natural step.

Underneath the interface, One UI 9 is built on Android 17 and primarily brings internal changes, featuring fewer visible novelties than One UI 8.5. Who knows, maybe Samsung will keep a few surprises for the Galaxy S25 series once the official beta program opens.

Regardless of which Samsung device you have, do not expect One UI 9 to work for you already in August, as it is more likely to arrive at the end of September.
