Liverpool agree £106m deal to sign PSG star Bradley Barcola as Mohamed Salah successor
According to reports from The Athletic and BBC, Liverpool have reached a final agreement to sign French forward Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain in a blockbuster package worth an initial £106 million (€125m). The 23-year-old attacker has been identified as the primary target to step into Mohamed Salah’s shoes at Anfield following the Egyptian icon’s departure at the end of last season.
The Financial Package and Contract Terms Agreed With PSG
The high-stakes negotiations reached a breakthrough on Tuesday after crucial talks involving key figures from both clubs, as reported by The Athletic. Led by CEO Billy Hogan, sporting director Richard Hughes, and Fenway Sports Group president Mike Gordon, Liverpool’s leadership successfully secured a direct deal with PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi. While the initial fee stands at £106 million, performance-related add-ons could push the total package up by a further £17 million (€20m).
Despite having two years remaining on his contract in the French capital, The Athletic notes that Barcola remained firmly committed to securing a move to Merseyside. The Lyon academy graduate is now set to put pen to paper on a lucrative five-year contract at Anfield.
Pedigree and Recent Success in Ligue 1 and the Champions League
Filling the void left by Salah is a monumental task, but the Reds have shown immense faith in a player who proved his worth in a star-studded PSG squad under Luis Enrique last term, according to The Athletic. Across the campaign, the Parisians successfully defended both their Ligue 1 and Champions League titles while the forward made 49 appearances, contributing 13 goals and seven assists.
The young winger earned his minutes despite facing intense competition from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue. Ever since he initially broke into the first team during the 2021-22 campaign, the attacker has posted a remarkable total of 39 goals and 37 assists through 152 senior appearances. His elite pedigree was further underlined during the summer’s World Cup, where he played a prominent role for France by featuring in all eight of their matches and scoring three goals on the global stage.
Medical Checks, Squad Omissions, and Expected Anfield Debut
The transfer is now in its final stages, with Liverpool FC reporting that the forward is set for a medical on Merseyside within the next 24 hours to finalize the move. Once all formalities are completed, he will be officially unveiled as Liverpool’s newest attacking weapon. Meanwhile, The Standard notes that the player ‘confirms’ his Liverpool shirt number he will ‘never let go’.
As reported by The Athletic, this impending switch neatly explains why the player was left out of the squad by manager Luis Enrique for the 2026-27 league opener against Rennes on Sunday, as well as his subsequent absence from Friday’s 2-2 draw at Lille. With the ink drying on his long-term deal, Barcola will soon begin the next chapter of his career under Iraola at Anfield.
