Kirstie Allsopp Rescue: Coastguard Member’s Heroic Final Shift

The Birthday Walk Incident at Welcombe Mouth

The 55-year-old co-host of the British property show Location, Location, Location was celebrating her birthday with her youngest son, Oscar, when the accident happened. According to 1News, the injury occurred around 6:35 pm on August 31 as she walked back from the beach along a steep path near Welcome Beach.

Allsopp described the annual tradition in a social media post cited by 1News:

“Almost every year since Oscar was born, we have celebrated my birthday at Meadowgate, one of my favourite places on earth,” Allsopp explained in a post on social media yesterday. “We have a picnic on the beach at Welcombe Mouth, a swim and a walk back to the house for some cake.”

After she slipped on the muddy patch, her son ran to fetch help from paramedics and first responders who administered a “huge amount” of painkillers, as reported by 1News.

Bude Coastguard Response and Final Shift

The Bude Coastguard rescue team, providing support for the Hartland Coastguard Rescue Team, arrived on the scene just as the Cornwall Air Ambulance landed. According to the Bude Coastguard’s statement published by 1News, the TV presenter was sedated due to “significant pain” before being transferred to a waiting ambulance.

The Bude Coastguard stated:

“As the Bude team were stood down from the incident, there was just enough time to capture a quick photo of attending Bude team members in front of the sunset, to mark the final ‘shout’ for Coastguard Rescue Officer Bude 04, Lotte (centre front row), on her last day of service for HM Coastguard,” Bude Coastguard

The unit praised her “dedication to the team, and her selfless commitment to saving lives and assisting those in need on our coast,” adding that she “will be sorely missed.”

Hospital Recovery and Aftermath

Allsopp expressed gratitude to the medical professionals who assisted her during the ordeal, acknowledging that it took “a whole host of people to get me to hospital” and joking, God only knows what I was like to deal with high as a kite! as noted by 1News.
