/ The Israeli newspaper “Haaretz” revealed, on Saturday, the arrival of a delegation from Qatar to Israel, “to advance the ceasefire deal with Hamas.”
According to the Al-Hurra website, the newspaper quoted a diplomat as saying, “The Qatari delegation arrived on a visit aimed at coordinating between the Israelis and their counterparts in Doha to ensure that the deal continues to progress smoothly and to discuss more details about the ongoing deal.”
The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation website said earlier, on Saturday, that a private Qatari plane had landed at Ben Gurion Airport, indicating that there were reports of a meeting between Qatari officials and Israeli security officials to discuss future deals between Hamas and Israel in the coming days.
The website quoted its correspondent as saying, “The two parties are discussing future exchange deals that may be implemented in the coming days and the progress of the current deal.”
On Friday, a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel entered into force, allowing the exchange of hostages held by Hamas in exchange for Palestinian prisoners detained in Israel.
Qatar mediated mainly alongside Egypt and the United States to reach the truce agreement, which will last four days and can be extended.
The agreement stipulated the cessation of military actions in the Gaza Strip and the exchange of 50 hostages held in Gaza and 150 detainees in Israeli prisons.
The first 24 hostages released by Hamas on Friday night arrived in Israel via Egypt.
The Israeli army estimates that there are 215 hostages still in Gaza, according to spokesman Doron Spielman, who added, “In many cases we do not know whether they are alive or dead.”
