Multiple volcanoes around the world are exhibiting unrest or eruptive activity, according to reports from various geological agencies as of February 11, 2026. Activity ranges from lava flows and ash plumes to increased seismic activity and gas emissions.

Tenerife, Canary Islands (Spain)

Unrest continues at Tenerife, with the alert level remaining at “Yellow – Alert” (level 2 on a 4-level scale), according to the Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN (Spain)) and Instituto Volcanológico de Canarias (INVOLCAN). This unrest has been ongoing between February 7 and February 10, 2026.

Canlaon, Central Philippines

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported continued eruption activity at Canlaon on February 10, 2026. Plumes rose to a maximum of 75 meters (246 feet) above the vent, and the alert level remains at “2 – Moderate Level of Volcanic Unrest” (on a 0–5 level scale).

Taal, Luzon, Philippines

Eruptive activity continues at Taal, with plumes reported and a tremor episode lasting 446 minutes recorded on February 10, 2026. The alert level remains at “1 – Low-Level Unrest” (on a 0–5 level scale), according to PHIVOLCS.

Mayon, Luzon Island, Philippines

The Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Tokyo (VAAC) reported an eruption at Mayon on February 11, 2026, at 1832Z. PHIVOLCS also reported continued eruption activity on February 10, 2026, including ongoing lava effusion. The alert level remains at “3 – Increased Tendency Towards Hazardous Eruption” (on a 0–5 level scale).

Indonesia: Multiple Volcanoes on Alert

Several Indonesian volcanoes are currently under alert. Unrest continues at Telong, Karangetang, Raung, Ibu, and others, all with alert levels ranging from “Level 2 – Alert” to “Level 3 – Standby,” as reported by the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard/Pusat Vulkanologi dan Mitigasi Bencana Geologi (CVGHM/PVMBG).

Specifically, Ibu volcano reported gas and vapor plumes rising to 200 meters (656 feet) above the vent, with 145 seismically detected explosions. Lewotobi (Laki-Laki) also continues to show unrest with gas and vapor plumes and 5 rockfalls detected.

Other Global Activity

Kilauea in Hawai’i experienced a pause in eruptive activity between February 9 and February 10, 2026, but remains at a “Watch” level (level 3 on a 4-level scale). Great Sitkin in the Aleutian Islands continues to erupt with slow-moving lava in the summit crater. Popocatépetl in Central Mexico remains at “Yellow Alert – Phase 2” (level 4 on a 7-level scale) with ongoing gas and vapor plumes. Sangay in Ecuador continues to erupt, with a volcanic ash plume reaching an estimated 21,000 feet (6,400 meters).

Additional volcanic activity has been reported at Turrialba and Rincón de la Vieja in Costa Rica, Poás, and Sabancaya in Peru, among others.
