Four members of the Ateneo de Manila Junior High School community presented their research at the International Academic Forum’s (IAFOR) 17th Asian Conference on Education (ACE2025) in Tokyo, Japan, from November 23-28, 2025. The conference, held at the Toshi Center Hotel, included both onsite and online participation and brought together educators and researchers from across the globe.

Brian Aljer Coballes presented his study, “Fostering Reading Interest: The Influence of Perceptions, Activities, and Promotions,” onsite. The research focuses on strategies to improve students’ reading interest, a key concern given the Philippines’ performance on the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA).
Mary Anthony Sieras also presented onsite, sharing her research on “Assessing Digital Citizenship Among Students and Technology Competency of Teachers.” Her findings indicate a gap in digital citizenship practice among students, despite their frequent technology use, and suggest teachers may require further training in integrating digital citizenship into their lessons.

Marites Veloso and Paolo Ven Paculan, along with co-author Desi R. Magnaye from Davao Christian High School, presented their co-authored paper, “Student Collaboration: A Holistic Framework for Scaffolding Group Activities,” online. The paper introduces the Student Collaboration Paradigm, a framework designed to enhance long-term collaborative learning through integrated approaches to group dynamics, project management, and other key skills.

All four presenters are currently doctoral students in the Gokongwei Brothers School of Education and Learning Design (GBSEALD) at Ateneo, a graduate program focused on Leadership in Education and Learning Design.
