Influencer brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested by U.S. Marshals in Miami on Saturday. The dual British-U.S. citizens face extradition to the United Kingdom, where they are accused of multiple counts of rape, human trafficking, and offenses involving indecent images of a child between 2010 and 2017.
Extradition Charges from Bedfordshire Police
The arrest follows a request from the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to extradite the brothers to the U.K. to face a series of new criminal charges. According to PBS News, the new allegations involve four additional victims, bringing the total number of alleged victims in the U.K. case to seven.
The charges, which center on incidents reported to have occurred between July 2010 and August 2017, are extensive. miamiherald.com reported that Andrew Tate, 39, faces seven new counts of rape, three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and 19 charges related to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography. Tristan Tate, 38, faces one new count of sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.

The brothers are currently held in federal detention in Miami and are expected to appear before a federal magistrate judge on Monday. International Legal Context
This arrest marks the latest development in a prolonged legal saga. The brothers, who moved to Romania in 2016, were previously arrested there in 2022 on charges of sexual exploitation. apnews.com reports that the Romanian case has stalled due to procedural and legal challenges, allowing the brothers to eventually travel to Florida last year.
