A body has been discovered following a fire at a home in County Offaly, Ireland, where a four-year-old boy and his great-aunt were murdered in an arson attack last December.
Investigation Underway in County Offaly
Police are investigating “all the circumstances” surrounding the latest blaze at Castleview Park in Edenderry. An Garda Siochana spokesperson said the body of an adult person was discovered inside the premises.
“A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death, which will determine the course of any Garda investigation,” the spokesperson added.
The scene has been preserved for forensic examination, and authorities are appealing for information from anyone regarding the house fire.
In December, four-year-old Tadhg Farrell and his great-aunt Mary Holt, 60, were killed in a fire at the same County Offaly home. The earlier fire also left the boy’s grandmother with serious burn injuries. A man in his late 20s, previously detained on suspicion of murder in connection with that incident, was released without charge in January.
Superintendent Liam Geraghty described the December fire as a “reckless, callous and murderous attack on a family home.”
