Forty-one delegates from ASEAN nations are participating in the exchange, including Cambodia (4), Indonesia (8), Lao PDR (4), Malaysia (4), Myanmar (4), Philippines (3), Singapore (3), Thailand (4), Timor Leste (2), and Vietnam (5). The event follows India’s presence at the MATTA Fair 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, where ATDC promoted Assam and the North East as emerging tourist destinations within the ASEAN-India Year of Tourism.
Upon arrival in Guwahati on December 12, delegates enjoyed a sunset cruise on the Brahmaputra River, highlighting Assam’s river-based tourism and community experiences. The initial sessions in Guwahati are intended to establish a foundation for further discussions planned in Kaziranga and New Delhi.
Upcoming sessions will include policy consultations with the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of External Affairs, and ASEAN missions, building upon the ideas generated during the Assam leg of the program.
