Asian Cup: Qatar and Tajikistan qualify for the knockout round from Group A

/ The third round of the first group of the 2023 Asian Cup football competitions, which are being held in Qatar, kicked off on Monday with two matches, the first brought together the Qatari team with its Chinese counterpart at Khalifa International Stadium, and the second between Tajikistan and Lebanon at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium at Al Sadd Club.

In the first match, the Qatari team defeated its Chinese counterpart 1-0. Qatar topped Group A with 9 points and reached the second round of the competitions, while China’s score froze at point 2 in third place.

The first half ended in a goalless draw, and in the second half, Qatar scored its goal through Hassan Al-Haydos in the 66th minute of the match.

In the second match, the Lebanese team lost to its Tajik counterpart 1-2, ensuring that the Tajik national team secured passage alongside Qatar to the round of 16, after raising its score to point 4, while Lebanon’s score froze at point 1 in last place to bid farewell to the tournament.

The first half ended in a goalless draw, and in the second half Lebanon scored its goal in the 47th minute through player Bassem Jradi, while the referee of the match sent off Lebanese national team player Qassem Al-Zein in the 59th minute of the match, so Lebanon completed the match with ten players.

In the 80th minute, the Tajikistan national team scored an equalizer goal through player Parvizjon Omarbayev, and the Tajikistan national team added its second goal in the 90th + 2 minute through Nurdin Hamrukolov.
