At least three people were killed and six others were injured Thursday afternoon when a car crashed into a 99 Ranch Market in Westwood, Los Angeles.

Westwood Grocery Store Crash Leaves Three Dead

The crash was reported at 12:11 p.m. on Westwood Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. The driver first struck a bicyclist before continuing and colliding with the grocery store.

Initially, two fatalities were confirmed, with fire officials later reporting a third death. The victims were individuals who were trapped underneath the vehicle, according to LAFD Captain Erik Scott.

Of the six injured, two patients were in serious condition, two were in moderate condition, and two declined transport to a hospital.

The driver, an elderly woman, is cooperating with investigators and undergoing a medical evaluation. Scott stated the incident does not appear to be intentional, and is currently being investigated as an accidental traffic collision.

A triage area was established outside the 99 Ranch Market to treat patients. A silver sedan was visible inside the front of the store.

Fire officials were concerned about the structural stability of the building and called in experts. However, the building remains structurally sound, with damage primarily limited to a glass front door.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass released a statement saying that Los Angeles police, LAFD, and the Mayor’s Office Crisis Response Team will remain on scene. “My heart is with the victims, their families, and all who were impacted by the deadly crash at the 99 Ranch Market in Westwood this afternoon,” Bass said.
