Warrior Trading Donation Boosts Berkshire Bounty’s Fight Against Food Insecurity
GREAT BARRINGTON, MA – Berkshire Bounty, a critical food rescue organization serving Berkshire County, has received a significant $30,000 donation from Warrior Trading, an online platform specializing in day trading education. The contribution arrives as Berkshire Bounty ramps up its end-of-year fundraising campaign, aiming to address escalating food insecurity and potential reductions in federal assistance programs.
The donation from Warrior Trading, founded in 2012 by Ross Cameron, will directly support Berkshire Bounty’s efforts to meet the growing needs of the community. “Berkshire Bounty is deeply concerned about the rising rates of food insecurity and the potential impact of cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP),” explained Morgan Ovitsky, Berkshire Bounty’s executive director. “These cuts will disproportionately affect our most vulnerable residents – nearly half of SNAP households in Berkshire County include older adults, 50% include a person with a disability, and 40% include children.”
The Growing Crisis of Food Insecurity in Berkshire County
Berkshire Bounty operates as a vital link in the local food system, rescuing nutritious food from various sources and delivering it to those in need. The organization partners with food pantries, senior centers, school districts, and other access points throughout Berkshire County. In 2025, Berkshire Bounty provided food for 21,000 individuals each week, collaborating with 32 emergency food sites. This includes a commitment to purchasing locally grown produce, supporting regional farmers while providing fresh, healthy options to food-insecure families, and a growing food box program delivering directly to homes.
The need for these services is intensifying. Rising inflation and economic uncertainty are pushing more families into food insecurity, while potential changes to SNAP benefits threaten to exacerbate the problem. Berkshire Bounty’s fundraising goal of $175,000 by the end of 2025 represents a significant increase over previous years, reflecting both the growing demand and a greater reliance on private funding. This increase is crucial to maintaining and expanding the organization’s reach.
“We are so pleased to be able to give back to our community,” said Ross Cameron, founder of Warrior Trading. “Warrior Trading is proud to support Berkshire Bounty as they help our neighbors in a time of need.” The company’s donation underscores a growing trend of businesses recognizing their social responsibility and investing in local communities.
Mark Lefenfeld and Jay Weintraub, co-founders and board members of Berkshire Bounty, expressed their gratitude for the support. “We are so grateful to our supporters,” they stated. “Unrestricted donations from our end-of-year campaign will be used for our day-to-day work and for food purchases, allowing us to increase the amount of food distributed to vulnerable people in our county.”
