A South Korean national was arrested in Angeles City, Pampanga, Philippines, for allegedly overstaying his visa and being undocumented, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced Sunday.

South Korean National Arrested in the Philippines

The 43-year-old man was apprehended on March 18 while receiving a delivery at his residence, according to the BI.

Agents confirmed the man’s identity, but he was unable to present a valid passport or Alien Certificate of Registration Identity Card (ACR I-Card), indicating he was an undocumented alien.

Further investigation revealed the South Korean national had exceeded his authorized stay in the Philippines.

The man was taken to the BI main office for processing and documentation.

“This arrest highlights our sustained efforts to locate and apprehend foreign nationals who violate the conditions of their stay,” said Fortunato Manahan Jr., chief of the BI Intelligence Division.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado stated the agency will not tolerate violations of Philippine immigration laws.

“Those who remain in the country without proper documentation or beyond their authorized stay will be arrested and subjected to deportation proceedings,” Viado added.
