Cabby taken to hospital after car catches fire in CTE accident with taxi

A 64-year-old taxi driver was taken to a hospital after a car fire following a collision on the Central Expressway (CTE) in the early hours of March 6.

Police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded to the incident, which occurred on the expressway towards the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) at approximately 3:40 a.m.

The SCDF extinguished the fire using two water jets. A 25-year-old male driver sustained injuries but declined hospital treatment, according to police.

The taxi driver was transported to Tan Tock Seng Hospital while conscious and is assisting with the ongoing investigation.

Photos shared with Shin Min Daily News depict a car engulfed in flames and another vehicle with significant fire damage and rear-end impact.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the SCDF.
