The Ateneo School of Government (ASOG) is seeking applicants for a full-time, project-based Research and Project Assistant II position to support its Tobacco Control and Governance program. The position, based in Quezon City, will assist in developing the National Action Plan for Smoking Cessation in the Philippines.

The Ateneo School of Government serves as the public sector arm of Ateneo de Manila University, dedicated to educating and collaborating with effective and ethical public servants. ASOG aims to contribute to building prosperous, sustainable, just, and happy communities in the Philippines through democratic and accountable governance.

Responsibilities of the Research and Project Assistant II

The Research and Project Assistant II will work with the Ateneo Policy Center (APC) and the Department of Health – Disease Prevention and Control Bureau (DOH-DPCB) on the development of a national plan for smoking cessation. Key responsibilities include providing technical assistance, conducting research, preparing reports, assisting with program events, monitoring implementation, and coordinating with partners.

Specific tasks include literature reviews, data gathering and analysis, writing, preparing financial and administrative documents, developing materials for dissemination, and assisting with logistical preparations.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in public health, development studies, economics, public policy, health science, or a related field; an advanced degree is an advantage. A minimum of two years of work experience is required, along with familiarity with health governance and institutions. Project management, graphics presentation, and research communication skills are considered advantages.

Candidates should be able to work independently, possess strong written and interpersonal communication skills in both English and Filipino, and demonstrate excellent organizational skills. The position requires willingness to travel outside Metro Manila for fieldwork.
