A 71-year-old man died Wednesday afternoon after a car crashed into a shop in Coalisland, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. The man has been identified as Gerard “Jock” Rafferty, a local resident.
Coalisland Shop Crash: Man Dies
Rafferty was taken to the hospital following the incident but died shortly after arrival, according to police.
Police received a report of the crash at approximately 12:20 pm. The incident occurred when a car collided with a shop on Moor Road and struck a pedestrian.
Officers from the collision investigation unit, along with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, responded to the scene.
“Mr Rafferty sadly passed away a short time afterwards,” said Chief Inspector Simpson.
Moor Road remains closed between Washingbay Road and Gortgonis Road.
Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with digital footage of the collision to contact the collision investigation unit on 101, quoting reference number 651 of January 28.
