The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will suspend enrollment and renewals for TSA PreCheck and Global Entry programs as the partial government shutdown continues, multiple news outlets report.

TSA PreCheck and Global Entry Suspended

The suspension of these trusted traveler programs is a direct result of the ongoing lack of funding for the DHS. TSA PreCheck allows expedited security screening at airports, while Global Entry expedites customs processing for international travelers.

According to reports, current members will not be impacted until their current membership expires. New applicants and those needing to renew will be unable to do so until the shutdown ends and funding is restored.

The shutdown is also impacting other DHS functions, including immigration enforcement. Protests related to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have been held in Bellevue and Tacoma, Washington, amid the shutdown, according to KING5.com.

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem criticized Democrats following a reported emergency situation in Potomac, linking it to the shutdown stalemate, as reported by FilmoGaz.
