Driver Loses License and Faces Charges After Fleeing Speed Check

A routine traffic control operation on County Road 109, also known as Rolvsøyveien, led to multiple license suspensions and fines after motorists were caught speeding past a nursing home.

High-Speed Evasion on Rolvsøyveien

The operation, which began at 12.15, quickly caught several drivers exceeding the speed limit. The first motorist to lose his driver’s license was a man in his 30s who was clocked driving at 75 km/h. When police signaled for him to pull over, he ignored the directive and accelerated away, passing multiple vehicles in the process.

Police units immediately gave chase, pursuing the vehicle until a patrol successfully intercepted and stopped the car near Hageland, according to operations manager Henrik Larsen at the Eastern Police District’s operational center.

The motorist now faces formal criminal charges for evading police control in addition to the immediate loss of his driving privileges.

Multiple Violations and Fines at the Leie Checkpoint

Beyond the high-speed pursuit, the checkpoint resulted in a flurry of penalties for motorists ignoring the 60 km/h speed limit. During the operation, officers issued seven simplified fines for excessive speed.

An eighth driver caught speeding flatly refused to accept the fine issued by the patrol. Meanwhile, a second motorist joined the first in losing his license entirely. That driver was measured traveling at 89 km/h through the 60 km/h zone near the Leie nursing home—a speed that automatically triggers the revocation of driving rights in Norway, even when the motorist complies and pulls over voluntarily.
