E-scooter driver who died in Waterford collision on Christmas Day named locally 

A 40-year-old man died after a collision with a car in Waterford, Ireland, on Thursday. The incident occurred at approximately 11 a.m. at the junction of Manor Hill (Bunker’s Hill) and Hennessy’s Road.

The deceased, a father of two, was taken to University Hospital Waterford, where he was later pronounced dead. He has been named locally as Mr. Walsh.

The driver of the car, a man in his 80s, was also transported to University Hospital Waterford with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Mr. Walsh is survived by his son Sean, daughter Ava, his mother Esther, father Tommy, brothers Thomas and Mark, and sisters Lorraine, Karen and Sarah. His death notice on RIP.ie stated he “will be sadly missed.”

He was employed at O’Sullivan’s Bar and Restaurant.

The road was closed for several hours to allow forensic collision investigators to examine the scene.

Gardaí are appealing for information from anyone who may have witnessed the collision, particularly road users with camera footage – including dash-cam – who were travelling on Manor Hill (Bunker’s Hill) and Hennessy’s Road between 10.45 a.m. and 11.15 a.m. on December 25.
