Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz hosted French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot in Jerusalem, discussing regional security concerns including the situation in Lebanon and the Red Sea. Katz emphasized the need for a firm response to maritime terrorism and warned of decisive action against enemies.

FM Saar Meets with French Counterpart

Foreign Minister Katz discussed the escalating tensions in the Red Sea with Barrot, characterizing the crisis as a “global issue” requiring international attention. He stated that the world’s acceptance of maritime terrorism encourages further attacks.

Concerns Over Lebanon and Hezbollah

The Israeli Ambassador has stated that Hezbollah must be degraded before peace talks with Lebanon can commence. During the meeting, Katz voiced concerns regarding a potential Israeli ground operation in Lebanon, while also conveying to Barrot that Israel “will act decisively against” any threats.

Barrot expressed concern over a potential IDF ground operation in Lebanon during his visit.

Katz also highlighted the importance of a strong stance against Iranian-backed forces in the region.
