Samsung Electronics is preparing to overhaul the physical hardware limitations that have defined its premier non-foldable smartphones for years. According to fresh industry disclosures, the upcoming Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra will feature significantly larger batteries than their predecessors, marking a distinct shift in the company’s hardware strategy. Samsung is bringing several improvements to its next-generation high-end smartphones, with four models planned in the Galaxy S27 series. The Galaxy S27 Pro and the Galaxy S27 Ultra will be the most interesting phones among those models, and their battery capacities have leaked for the first time.

Silicon-Carbon Anodes Power S27 Pro and Ultra Capacity Gains

For every model since the first top-of-the-line flagship launched in 2020, the Galaxy S Ultra lineup has featured a 5,000mAh battery. That consistency is set to end with the Galaxy S27 generation. According to GalaxyClub, a 5,087mAh (rated) battery will power the Galaxy S27 Pro, and Samsung will probably advertise it as a 5,200mAh (typical) battery. The Galaxy S27 Ultra, on the other hand, will be powered by a 5,534mAh (rated) battery, and Samsung could advertise it as a 5,700mAh (typical) battery. This is around 15% higher capacity than the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s 5,000mAh battery.

Industry analysis links these gains to the adoption of silicon-carbon batteries. Samsung’s new Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Z Flip 8 are the company’s first phones to use silicon-carbon batteries, an advancement that means more capacity can be squeezed into a slimmer chassis.
