‘Get Out Of Here!’ Woman Blasts BJP MLA Girish Mahajan Amid Traffic Chaos During Women’s Reservation Bill Protest In Mumbai

A protest march in Mumbai regarding the Women’s Reservation Bill led to a viral confrontation on Monday, as a frustrated commuter publicly blasted BJP MLA Girish Mahajan over severe traffic congestion.

The demonstration, which headed toward the Worli dome, caused traffic in several parts of the city to come to a near standstill. While intended as a political show of strength, the event drew sharp criticism from stranded motorists.

Video footage circulating on social media shows a woman angrily questioning MLA Girish Mahajan about why the protest was allowed on busy roads instead of being held in a maidan or open ground.

“Say what you want to say in an empty ground, get out of here, don’t stop the traffic,” the woman told the minister, noting that hundreds of people were waiting in traffic while an empty ground was available nearby.

Background on the Women’s Reservation Bill Protest

The unrest follows the Lok Sabha’s rejection of the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill on April 11. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present in the House during the voting process.

A total of 528 members participated in the vote, with 298 in favor and 230 against. The bill failed to reach the required two-thirds majority of 326 votes necessary for a constitutional amendment.

The proposed legislation sought to expand the strength of the House from 543 to 850 seats and enable delimitation based on data from the post-2026 Census.
