Historically, separate builds existed for Bluetooth/Wi-Fi variants and LTE models. This consolidation aims to simplify the build process internally. Earlier leaks from a Google Play Console listing pointed to a “godric” moniker, suggesting “goteria” follows a similar portmanteau naming convention for the device.
Wear OS 7 Architecture and Deployment Realities
Running on Wear OS 7, the new software leverages Android 17 foundations, which Google initially rolled out in June to existing devices. Questions remain regarding feature trickle-down, as it is yet to be determined which specific capabilities built into the Pixel Watch 5 will eventually reach older hardware generations. Official developer documentation notes that These files are for use only on your personal Google Pixel Watch devices and may not be disassembled, decompiled, reverse engineered, modified or redistributed by you or used in any way except as specifically set forth in the license terms that came with your device.

Furthermore, executing a clean install carries significant data consequences. Google warns that Installing a factory image will erase all data from the device, and unlocking the bootloader will make your device less secure.
For users seeking a safer installation path, sideloading presents a viable alternative. As documentation explains, In most cases it should be possible to sideload the full OTA image instead. This does not require a data wipe, and does not require the bootloader to be unlocked.
