Gus Lamont Missing: SA Police Search, Man Arrested – Firearms Link?

Police are continuing their search for missing boy Gus, now investigating the case as a major crime. A person residing at Oak Park Station has withdrawn cooperation with investigators and is now considered a suspect in his disappearance, though Gus’ parents are not suspects.

Gus Disappearance: Investigation Deepens

Task Force Horizon detectives have returned to Oak Park Station to continue searching for evidence, and are expected to remain in the area for at least the next two days. Police anticipate further inquiries will be conducted on Tuesday as the investigation progresses.

Earlier this month, police revealed they had identified a suspect who was known to the boy. Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke stated there had been “discrepancies” and “inconsistencies” in information provided by some of Gus’ family members.

“As a result of these inconsistencies, and investigations into them, a person who resides at Oak Park Station has withdrawn their support for the police and is no longer co-operating with us,” Fielke said. He confirmed the suspect is not one of Gus’ parents.

“I do want to stress, however, that Gus’s parents are not suspects in his disappearance,” Fielke added. He declined to provide further information about the suspect or the reasons for their suspect status.

Grandparents Seek Legal Counsel

Gus’ grandparents have retained separate legal representation following the release of new details in the case. Josie Murray has hired criminal lawyer Andrew Ey, while Shannon Murray is being represented by defence lawyer Casey Isaacs.

In a statement released on February 6, the legal teams confirmed their representation of the grandparents. The grandparents themselves stated they were “absolutely devastated” by the police’s media release and emphasized their full cooperation with the investigation, expressing their desire to find Gus and reunite him with his parents.

Authorities noted that seeking legal advice is not unusual for potential witnesses. There is currently no indication that either Josie or Shannon Murray were involved in Gus’ disappearance.

The renewed search effort is expected to be completed within the next two days, according to police. No arrests have been made or charges laid in relation to the missing boy, and detectives previously stated they no longer expect to find Gus alive.
