Honor Society of the Philippines Launches
Distinguished alumni, faculty, and students from the University of the Philippines system – including UP Diliman, UP Los Baños, UP Manila, UP Visayas, and UP Baguio – were inducted into the newly formed society.
Dr. Alfredo Mahar Francisco Lagmay, a co-founder and charter member of the HSP, introduced the organization, explaining its formation was a response to “division… and rising intolerance” within the country. He emphasized that the society’s purpose extends beyond academics, stating it is “not merely academic; it is moral.”
Lagmay further articulated the society’s core mission, asserting that scholarship should be dedicated “not for ego, not for prestige, not for applause, but for service to the Filipino people.”
