Soekarno-Hatta Airport Prepares for Eid al-Fitr Travel
InJourney Airports, the management of Soekarno-Hatta Airport, will deploy 7,832 personnel to manage the increased passenger traffic. Approximately 2,197 personnel will be on duty during each operational shift, according to General Manager Heru Karyadi.
“This is to ensure the smooth running of airport operations and to maintain service quality for users,” Karyadi stated on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. “This is part of our measures to ensure the smooth operation of flights and to provide the best service for airport users during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming and return periods.”
The airport has undertaken comprehensive preparations encompassing operational aspects, infrastructure readiness, passenger service facilities, and personnel readiness to anticipate the increase in passenger and air movements.
Soekarno-Hatta Airport has confirmed the readiness of its facilities, including three runways, 175 parking stands, and 115 avio-bridges. Passenger services are being enhanced with additional baggage and cabin trolleys, and optimized inter-terminal transportation via the Skytrain and shuttle bus.
To maintain operational reliability, electrical testing of generators has been conducted to ensure optimal function of the backup electrical system. Random vehicle checks are also being performed in the terminal area to ensure safety and security.
Ground transportation services, including intermodal shuttle buses, AJAP shuttles, online taxis, and regular taxis, are being strengthened with additional fleets. Contingency plans are in place to mitigate potential emergencies or extreme weather conditions, including increased drainage capacity, real-time water level monitoring, and normalization of water channels.
“We ensure that all airport services run optimally so that the public can travel safely, comfortably, and smoothly,” Karyadi said. Coordination with all airport stakeholders is ongoing to ensure continued smooth operations throughout the Eid al-Fitr 2026 travel period.
