Oil Price Hike and Government Response
The DOE has tasked government agencies to implement energy-saving measures, according to the Philippine News Agency. This includes limiting the use of non-essential vehicles and optimizing energy consumption in government buildings.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) is also considering increasing its use of electric patrol cars as a way to mitigate the impact of rising fuel costs, as reported by the Manila Bulletin.
Olongapo City has already begun limiting fuel use for government vehicles in response to the oil price surge, Inquirer.net reported.
