India and Israel are strengthening their defense ties and are expected to finalize a free trade agreement this year, following a significant visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Israel. Several key Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were also inked during the visit.
India-Israel Defense Cooperation
Prime Minister Modi addressed the Israeli Knesset, a move that drew criticism from India’s Congress party, who accused him of an “unabashed defense of his host.” Netanyahu described Modi’s speech as “moving.”
A free trade pact between the two nations is anticipated to be completed within the current year, according to the Israeli Ambassador to India.
The agreements signed encompass areas of defense cooperation, space collaboration, and other strategic partnerships. Details of the specific MoUs were not immediately available.
