The purchase includes the Novotel Thakher City hotel, which features 4,400 rooms across three towers, along with approximately five hectares of adjacent land earmarked for future development. Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani announced the acquisition Wednesday at Jakarta’s presidential palace, confirming the transaction was completed by the state investment body Danantara Indonesia.

The property is located approximately 2.5 kilometers from the Masjid al Haram (Grand Mosque). Accessibility is expected to improve with the completion of the Al-Hujun tunnel or bridge connection, slated for 2026.

“The distance from this area to the Masjid al-Haram is only about 2.5 kilometers,” Roeslani stated.

The additional land will be used to build supplementary hotels and a shopping center tailored to the needs of Indonesian pilgrims during their spiritual journeys. Indonesia sends over 200,000 Hajj pilgrims and two million Umrah performers each year, representing the largest national groups participating in the pilgrimages.

The complex is planned to eventually expand to approximately 6,000 rooms, creating a self-sufficient ecosystem for Indonesian pilgrims.
