Papua Nutrition Program Expansion

Addressing six governors and 42 regents from Papua, Prabowo stated the free nutritious meal program (MBG) would be extensive. He inquired about the program’s implementation with Dadan Hindayana, head of the National Nutrition Agency.

Hindayana reported a target of 2,500 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPGs) across Papua, aiming to benefit approximately 750,000 people. Currently, 179 public kitchens are operational: 65 in Papua Province, 42 in West Papua, 8 in South Papua, 30 in Central Papua, 5 in the Papua Highlands, and 28 in Southwest Papua.

According to Hindayana, all operational public kitchens are expected to be established by March. He also noted that 275 investors have expressed interest in establishing public kitchens and are registered with local governments, with a total of 300 investors expected to build SPPGs in Papua.

Acknowledging the challenging working conditions in Papua, Prabowo set a revised target date of August 17, 2026, for the complete establishment of all free nutritious meal kitchens.
