A large crowd is expected in Limerick City on Sunday, March 15, 2026, for the International Band Championships, which will begin at the junction of Barrington Street and Quinlan Street at 12 p.m.
Road Closures and Parking Restrictions
Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys and expect diversions and delays around Limerick City due to road closures for the parade. Parking on the parade route is prohibited from 4 a.m. to 4 p.m., and vehicles will be towed.
The following streets will have parking prohibited: Barrington St, Harstonge Street Upr, The Crescent, Mallow Street, O’Connell Street, Glentworth Street, Roches St. Henry Street, Liddy Street, Arthurs Quay, Francis Street.
Bridge Closures
Shannon Bridge and Thomond Bridge will remain open throughout the event. Sarsfield Bridge will be closed both inbound and outbound from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Street Closure Details
Barrington Street, Pery Square, Catherine Place, and Harstonge St Upper will be closed from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Additional street closures will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., including:
- O’Connell Avenue
- The Crescent
- O’Connell St
- Henry St (from the junction of Lwr Mallow St to Sarsfield St)
- Mallow St Upper & Lower
- Catherine St
- Bishops Quay
- Harveys Quay
- Honan Quay
- Arthurs Quay
- Charlottes Quay
- Cecil St
- Roches St
- William St
- Patrick St
- Ennis Road at Sarsfield Bridge
Public Transportation and Safety
Disruptions to local and national bus service routes are expected during the parade. Customers should contact their respective service providers for more information. Garda Síochána advises patrons to secure valuables in their vehicles, keeping them out of view, and to be mindful of children’s whereabouts due to the large crowds.
Parking on green areas within the city is not permitted and is subject to ticketing or towing. Illegal parking may also impede emergency vehicle access.
