An investigation is underway following a dog attack in Papatoetoe, Auckland. Two people were bitten after intervening in a dog fight on Caspar Rd last night, and were subsequently taken to Middlemore Hospital in moderate condition.

Auckland Council animal management officers attended the scene after being notified of the incident. One dog was seized after its owner relinquished it to authorities.
Hato Hone St John responded to the incident at 7:42 p.m., dispatching one ambulance to assess the two patients.
Auckland Council is reminding the public of the potential risks associated with dogs, stating that any dog can bite, even if known by the victim. Dog attacks can be reported to the council by calling 0800 462 685.
“Investigations are ongoing,” a council spokesperson said.
