On Sunday, July 19, 2026, the Jordanian Armed Forces confirmed they intercepted three Iranian missiles aimed at the port and airport of Aqaba in southern Jordan, while a fourth landed in a remote area. Despite the proximity of these events to the city of Aqaba, a spokesperson for the Jordanian government denied issuing any evacuation orders, confirming that the international airport and port are operating normally.
The spokesperson further noted that there were no potential threats recorded by specialized Jordanian authorities in the preceding hours, and that the situation was proceeding according to pre-prepared procedures, including the sounding of sirens.
The scope of the Iranian activity extended beyond Jordan. The Israeli military reported that its forces and Jordanian forces intercepted a missile launched from Iran toward the city of Aqaba, noting the possibility of some projectiles or their fragments falling inside Israeli territory. Furthermore, Bahraini state television announced on Sunday that its air defense systems had intercepted what it described as Iranian aerial aggression.
The Kuwaiti army also announced its interception of Iranian attacks on Sunday morning.

According to reports from The Times of Israel, Tel Aviv is preparing for the possibility of an expanded military confrontation between the United States and Iran in the coming week. There are estimates that Washington may expand its bank of targets
to include Iranian civilian infrastructure. This follows statements made by Donald Trump in an interview with Fox News, where he said the U.S. would continue its attacks, adding, We will destroy all their power plants, and we will destroy all their bridges unless they sit at the negotiating table.
According to a report by military analyst Avi Ashkenazi in the newspaper Ma’ariv, Tehran is seeking to build new pressure paths that could move the confrontation to different arenas against Israel, though not necessarily by expanding the war through Lebanon or Gaza. The report notes that, to date, the confrontation between the U.S. and Iran has remained limited in terms of fire level and geographic scope within Iranian territory.

Simultaneously, the Iraqi News Agency reported that Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi will visit Tehran at the end of the week to sign memoranda of understanding in fields of joint cooperation.

The Fars news agency reported local sources hearing explosions in Bushehr and Jughadak, while the official Iranian news agency stated that four sites in Bushehr were bombed, resulting in four injuries. As the region navigates these events, oil prices have jumped to their highest levels in four weeks, reflecting international concern over the potential impact on global energy supplies and the economy.
