Malaysian police have arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with a series of vehicle break-ins near MRT stations in Kuala Lumpur, resolving six open cases.
MRT Station Vehicle Break-ins: Suspect Arrested
The suspect was detained around 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 21 in the Damansara area, according to Sentul officer-in-charge Assistant Commissioner of Police Basri Sagoni.
The arrest followed a police report filed by a 31-year-old clerk on Feb. 17. The woman reported that her car window was smashed while parked at the MRT Kepong Baru parking area on Jalan Rimbunan Raya, Kepong.
Police recovered stolen items belonging to the victim, including a mobile phone, a wristwatch, five Touch ’n Go cards, and a battery charger.
Investigators found the suspect targeted parking areas at MRT stations and secluded locations. He allegedly used ceramic fragments from a spark plug to break car windows before stealing valuables.
The suspect has six prior criminal offenses and one drug offense on his record, police said.
