Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – An additional 12,600 tickets for the Electric Train Service (ETS) on the KL Sentral – JB Sentral – KL Sentral route will be available for purchase ahead of the Chinese New Year celebrations, according to Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

Additional ETS Tickets Released

The tickets will go on sale beginning 12:15 a.m. on Wednesday, February 11, and are valid for travel between February 13 and February 22.

The release of these tickets follows the approval of the seventh ETS3 set. Currently, all ETS tickets for the specified travel period are sold out. An initial batch of 26,460 additional tickets released by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) have also been purchased.

β€œOverall, KTMB has readied an additional 46,404 train tickets for the Chinese New Year travel period – a 426% increase compared to last year (8,820),” Loke stated during a session in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday, February 10.

The increase in available tickets is attributed to the addition of seven new ETS3 sets and increased train frequency during the holiday period. The Electric Multiple Unit Plus (EMU+) service will also be introduced for Chinese New Year travel.

Currently, 43% of EMU+ tickets have been sold. A six-car set will also be deployed on the KL Sentral-Ipoh-KL Sentral route, adding 24 trips.

Hari Raya Aidilfitri Ticket Sales

For Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations, 118,823, or 53%, of the 224,196 available ETS seats have been sold, covering travel between March 13 and March 29. Any further release of tickets will be announced once the current seats are fully booked.

Loke responded to questions from Lee Chuan How (PH-Ipoh Timor) regarding ETS ticket sales and additional services for both the upcoming Chinese New Year and Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.
